This is a story about the world we know.
The race to seize the scepter of alchemy is on. Coveted by numerous forces, each with varying motivations to possess such magic, the safety of Namaté is in jeopardy. As fates cross and ancient riddles are solved, unexpected threats arise to muddy the fight.
Beneath the battlefield of Namaté exists a world within a world—Occavas, the origin planet; a secret land filled with terrestrial magic and respect amongst the few species granted access to its portals. But such harmony can only continue if Occavas remains hidden to those waging war above, and as new contenders enter the Great Fight, the fates of both worlds are endangered, as one cannot survive without the other.
This is a story about the home we’ve forgotten.
What I thought: Nicoline once again enchants and shows her skills in world building by introducing us to the Gasiones – flying creatures hailing from the land Vapore. Our heroine is Noelani, a respected warrior whose goal is to see Occavas – the true world hovering underneath the surface of Namaté – protected at all costs. Noelani is just another key player to the chess game going on on Namaté along with Nessa and Rhoco. Each one has their role to play in the Great Fight and this book keeps you in your seat for the entire ride. This book did not disappoint – each of the characters we have grown to love in the last two books keep crashing together and pulling apart as they continue to fulfill their destinies. Nicoline has succeeded in creating a world that I care very much about and want everything to work out for our heroes! I can’t wait to read what happens next – on to Vapore!
The Quote: They recharged their souls every night by consuming more starlight.
Why I chose it: I thought this quote was a beautiful and poetic description of an otherwise violent species. I love watching the stars at night, and I love the idea of recharging my own soul through something so beautiful.
About the Author:
I love inventing new worlds where readers can escape. My goal while writing is to create a safe place for people to forget about the heavy things in their own lives, even if it is only for a few hours of the day. My style of writing often contains dark undertones within the story lines and character development. Why? I believe there is beauty in the unexplored depths of sadness and struggle.
I graduated from Rutgers University – New Brunswick, NJ as a communications major. After taking every creative writing course they offered, I realized writing was my passion.
Random things about me? I am a certified scuba diver, I revel in new adventures, and I believe in all things magical.–
