What I thought: What a great beginning! Brock’s storytelling hooked me from the beginning and didn’t let go. He built a fascinating world with characters that make you feel you are standing right next to them. I am looking forward to book two and diving further into this world!

Why I chose it: I always like reminders like these when the going gets tough. It’s never forever – it will end soon. I liked how simple yet powerful the phrase “spring always comes” is.
About the Author:
Brock Mays is a Utah native but also feels at home in the countries around the Baltic Sea, having lived in both Lithuania and Finland. Brock is a lover of new languages and speaks Lithuanian, intermediate Russian and Spanish, a spattering of Finnish, and a few others at the beginner level. A perfect gift for rock is a book on a language he doesn’t yet speak. He is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Global Enterprise and also attended utah State University and Snow College. His passion for languages and all things international mixed with his love of all things “nerd” led to his debut novel EMBERS. Brock married the most amazing person on the entire planet, Shay, on August 22, 2014.
